Gary Malcolm Hewitt, 84, of Lewiston, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016.
Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Mary Hewitt, and son Kevin D. Hewitt.
Gary was born July 17, 1931. He spent part of his childhood in Coos Bay, Ore., before being adopted by the Hewitts in Weiser, Idaho. Gary graduated from Oregon State University with a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology. He worked for the Idaho Department of Fish and Game before working as a cab driver, during which time he met his would-be wife, Arlene. The happy couple were married in Lewiston in 1980.
Gary was an avid fly fisherman and truly enjoyed any and all outdoor activities. He loved classical music and was amazing at trivia games.
Gary is survived by his son, John Hewitt.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at 1510 Warner Ave. in Lewiston. The family requests that those attending please bring a side dish to share. Hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, the family will have a donation bin set up to assist with the funeral costs.
