In loving memory of Jay Leo Butenschoen

Jay Leo Butenschoen, of Lewiston, loved by everyone, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2026, at the age of 58.

Jay was the son of John and Judy Butenschoen. He shared a remarkable bond with his partner of 34 years, Helen Guthrie.

A graduate of Lacrosse High School, and then joined the U.S. Air Force. Then he became an electrician.

Family was the cornerstone of Jay’s life. He was the proud father of Alisha and Jessica and grandfather of Jacob and Kathleen.

Jay is survived by his sister, Lea, and Scott Phillips, along with their children, Kylie, Amanda, Rebecca and Thomas. He is also survived by his great-nephew, Cameron.

His funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Clarkston Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2673 13th St., Clarkston.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Jay’s memory through a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project Foundation.
