Marilyn Carter, 85, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026.

Marilyn was a woman of deep faith, a generous heart and a welcoming spirit. She loved her family, neighbors, church and the many people whose lives she touched. Her genuine love for people served her well as a realtor, where she enjoyed helping others find a place to call home.

She found great joy in the outdoors — working in her yard and garden or walking along the levee in Lewiston. Marilyn lived independently until the end, just as she wished, and she was grateful for the simple blessings of each day.

Marilyn enjoyed sharing her favorite places with those she loved. She often took visitors to Waffles n’ More for breakfast or a Dairy Queen ice cream cone any time of day. In the winter, she loved visiting Locomotive Park to see the Christmas lights.

She is survived by her five children: Synde Carter, of Kenmore, Wash.; David (Darla) Carter, of Woodinville, Wash.; Michelle (Ron) Smith, of Gresham, Ore.; Scott (Michelle) Carter, of Liberty Lake, Wash.; and John (Marcie) Carter, of Eagle, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; her niece Brandee Donnelly, her dear friend, Curt Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska, and her kind and caring friends and neighbors.

Marilyn’s faith, kindness, beautiful smile and love for her family and the outdoors will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace and resting in the loving presence of her Savior.
