Richard “Kass” Crooks, 65, of Lewiston, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston. He was born Oct. 19, 1960, in Fort Meade, Md., to Beverley Nelson Crooks and Richard Crooks. He was called “Kass” by his family.
The family moved to Moscow for three years while his father attended the University of Idaho. After his father graduated, the family moved to Salem, Ore., where Kass attended grade school. While there, Kass loved to play basketball. His father got a job in Bend, Ore., and moved the family there.
In Bend, Kass enjoyed playing sports through his high school years, and after high school he worked a variety of jobs, his last being a fisherman. He moved to Lewiston in 2010 where he retired.
Kass loved music and excelled in playing guitar. He also enjoyed reading books on history, politics, biographies and a variety of other subjects. Kass was a gentle, laid-back soul, who was giving and cared about others. He will be missed by us.

He was preceded in death by his father Richard Crooks.
