Robert Lyle Ross, 82, a longtime Lewiston resident and an admirable golfer, superb father, incredible grandfather and beloved husband to the already deceased Anna Marie Ross, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his home as the result of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm suffered very recently.
He was born on Nov. 14, 1934, to Charles and Arlo Ross in Onawa, Iowa. He grew up in that western Iowa town on the Missouri River, where he graduated high school and became a military police officer during his enlistment time in the United States Marine Corps. Afterwards, he became a safety inspector for the Corps of Engineers, helping to construct Dworshak and Lower Granite dams.
From Onawa, Bob moved his family to live in both The Dalles, Ore., and Lewiston. Through the time of his employment with the Corps of Engineers, Robert won several commendations and awards for excellence. He was a proud member of the Clarkston Golf and Country Club.
He is survived by his three sons, Charles Ross, Marty Ross and Brian Ross, along with Brian's wife, Lori and their two children, Zachary and Olivia; and a recent special addition to the family is MaryJo, now wed to Zachary. Robert has a surviving brother, Terry, and also leaves behind a magnificent dear friend, Donna Harris. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill; wife Anna Marie; and their son, Douglas Scott.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home.
