Obituary

Wallace "Wally" Biederstedt, longtime resident of Lewiston, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018.

He was born June 1, 1932, in Corson County, S.D., to Sam and Elizabeth (Schock) Biederstedt. Wally lived his early years in South Dakota on his family's farm. He attended Roosevelt Country School and worked on the family farm for many years. He eventually took a job working for the local police department in his hometown and served as chief of police.

He married Dorothy Anderson in 1953, and to this union four children were born. They later divorced. Wally moved to Lewiston in 1966, and was employed by Potlatch Corp.

In 1975, he married Julie (Langley) Gregory and they celebrated 42 years of marriage.

Never an idle man, Wally owned and operated two businesses: Wally's Painting and Wally's Crawfish Traps. He retired from Potlatch Corp. in 1994, after many years with the company.

Wally was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and camping with family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved interaction with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered for all the boat rides, fishing lessons and his ready willingness to lend a helping hand.

He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lewiston.

Wally is survived by his loving wife, Julie; four children, Debbie (Rich) Masters, Diane Loney, Dale (Nancy) Biederstedt, all of Lewiston, and Terry (Teri) Biederstedt of Spanaway, Wash.; two stepchildren, Roger Gregory of Oklahoma, and Sue (Jim) Van Ornum of California; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Willard (Rita) Biederstedt of Lafayette, Ind.; sister Jerri Schneider of Lakeland, Minn.; and five sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Earl, Leroy, Marvin, Victor, Howard and Russel; sisters Ester, Ella, Irene and Virginia; stepdaughter Glenda Arden; son-in-law Oran Loney; and daughter-in-law Lilli Gregory.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1212 19th St., Lewiston.
