Obituary

Willis "Lee Roy" Cromer passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at his Lewiston home. He was 82.

Roy was born July 7, 1935, in Lewiston, to Willis and Harriet Cromer. He graduated from Lapwai High School and attended Lewis-Clark State College. In 1952, Roy worked at Carpenter Sawmill on Webb Ridge and in Lewiston. He and Wilma Vigue were married Feb. 7, 1953, in Lewiston, and they shared almost 65 years together.

Roy enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving from 1954 until 1956. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked for Potlatch Forests Inc., from 1964 until his retirement 30 years later.

Roy loved the outdoors. He put great effort into growing his own hay summer after summer. As the fourth of seven brothers, he had great stories to tell of growing up on Webb Ridge. He worked hard his whole life and was always quick to help others at a moment's notice. He was the go-to guy for many. Roy spent countless hours riding his horses and loved every minute. He was a true cowboy, a man amongst men and the best grandpa ever.

Roy is survived by his wife, Wilma Cromer; son Brad Cromer; son-in-law Andy Schumacher; granddaughters Jessica Schumacher and Kara Cromer; great-grandchildren Brighton and Emery Schumacher, and William and Truley Cromer; and brothers Virgil and Oscar Cromer. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Teri Cromer, and brothers Carl, Charles, Mark and Russell Cromer.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
