Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home has proudly served the families of the Lewis-Clark Valley since its founding in 1924. Established by Loren B. Wann and Eugene Brower in a Victorian home on Main Street in Lewiston, Idaho, the funeral home was built on a tradition of compassionate service, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to the community.
In the 1930s, Loren B. Wann acquired Mr. Brower's interest in the business, continuing to expand its reputation for dignified and personalized care. Following Mr. Wann's passing during World War II, his daughter, Betty Jean Wann, assumed responsibility for the funeral home until her husband, Kermit H. Malcom, returned home from military service. After completing his college education, Kermit became owner and manager, dedicating himself to advancing the profession while maintaining the family's commitment to serving local families with compassion and integrity.
Under Kermit's leadership, the funeral home embraced modern advancements in funeral service while remaining deeply rooted in community involvement. After a devastating fire destroyed the original facility in 1950, a new funeral home was constructed at 1711 18th Street, where Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home continues to serve families today.
In 1983, Kermit and Betty retired after decades of dedicated service, passing ownership to their sons, K. Michael Malcom and William "Bill" Malcom, along with their son-in-law, Marshall Harwick. Following Marshall's retirement in 2002 and Mike's departure in 2005, Bill continued to lead the funeral home, preserving its long-standing tradition of excellence.
In 2012, ownership transitioned to Jason Malcom Harwick, Jeffrey D. Seipert, and Dennis W. Hastings, ensuring that the funeral home's legacy would continue for future generations. Following Jeff's untimely passing in January 2013, the funeral home has continued under the leadership of Jason Malcom Harwick and Dennis W. Hastings.
Today, more than a century after its founding, Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home remains independently owned and operated, continuing its mission of providing compassionate, personalized care to every family it serves. While much has changed since 1924, the values upon which the funeral home was founded—integrity, dignity, and service—remain at the heart of everything we do.
